Shooting with a rangefinder camera

I have received my new Leica and need to play with it! I have never been shooting with a rangefinder camera before. It’s a steep learning curve but I enjoy it!

Rangefinder cameras are a type of camera that use a rangefinder mechanism to measure the distance between the camera and the subject. This allows the photographer to manually focus the lens and achieve precise focus.

Taking photos with a rangefinder camera requires a bit more patience and attention to detail compared to using a modern digital camera with autofocus. However, the results can be well worth the effort.

To take a photo with a rangefinder camera, start by setting the aperture and shutter speed based on the lighting conditions and the desired depth of field. Then, use the rangefinder to measure the distance to your subject and adjust the focus of the lens accordingly.

When composing your shot, pay attention to the placement of elements in the frame and the overall balance of the image. Finally, take the photo by pressing the shutter button and releasing it smoothly to avoid camera shake.

Overall, shooting with a rangefinder camera is a rewarding and satisfying experience for me as I enjoy the process of manual focusing and composing my shots.
