As part of our cruise, we spent a full day in Istanbul, a city where Europe and Asia meet. The mix of cultures, colors, and sounds is unlike anywhere else — from the call to prayer echoing across the mosques to the lively streets filled with vendors, taxis, and people in constant motion.
Down at the harbor, we watched anglers lined up along the waterfront, patiently fishing as ferries crossed the Bosporus. The air was filled with the smell of grilled döner kebab and roasted chestnuts, blending perfectly with the city’s vibrant rhythm.
We explored modern shopping malls and traditional Yeralti Çarşısı — Istanbul’s underground bazaars. These subterranean passages, known locally as pasaj, connect streets below ground level and are filled with small shops, local merchandise, and the pulse of everyday commerce.
It was a perfect place for street photography — capturing everyday life, contrasts, and faces that tell the story of this fascinating city.
