Stavanger welcomes you with the quiet strength of Norway’s west coast — a city balanced between the North Sea and winding fjords. As we arrived, the weather played its familiar tune: clouds drifting low, light breaking through just enough to reveal soft reflections on the water. The harbor was alive with boats, gulls, and the steady rhythm of everyday life.
The old town, Gamle Stavanger, shone bright with its white wooden houses and orange rooftops — perfectly preserved and full of charm. Narrow alleys opened to glimpses of the sea, and an old blue VW bus parked nearby added a touch of nostalgic serenity to the scene.
From the ship, we watched Lysefjord’s cliffs rise dramatically, waterfalls cascading from above while the Norwegian flag waved behind us. Ferries and small boats passed quietly, connecting islands and people scattered across this vast coastal landscape. The mix of sea air, wood, and stone defined Stavanger’s essence — humble, maritime, and timeless.
As the evening fell, clouds thickened again, and the city lights began to shimmer on the water — proof that beauty here is found in contrasts, between storm and calm, modern life and deep tradition.
