Our next cruise stop was Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote, known for its volcanic landscapes and clear Atlantic light. The island immediately impressed us with its unique mix of black lava fields, bright white houses, and deep blue skies. We explored the countryside with its windmills, cacti, and small villages built from stone and lime — a landscape shaped by both fire and resilience.

A visit to a local bodega was one of the day’s highlights. We tasted volcanic wines, cactus jam, and fig honey, learning how local farmers cultivate vineyards in small, circular pits protected from the wind. The simplicity and inventiveness of island life stood out everywhere — from colorful doors and pottery workshops to handmade produce in village markets.

From the Mirador del Río, we enjoyed spectacular views of La Graciosa Island and the Atlantic horizon, ending the day with a golden sunset as our ship departed.
