November 2, 2025

Our second day in El Quseir, Egypt was a perfect mix of sunshine, saltwater, and bubbles. We started the morning with the familiar and friendly team at Extra Divers El Quseir, located directly at the Mövenpick Resort El Quseir — right on the shores of the stunning El Quadim Bay, one of the most beautiful and well-preserved diving bays on the Red Sea.

We’ve been diving here for many years, and it always feels like coming home. The team is professional, organized, and places great emphasis on safety and environmental care. Normally, Extra Divers require a check dive before exploring the reef, but since we’ve logged many dives here and our son Simon now has nearly 100 dives, we’ve reached what they proudly call the “No-Check-Dive Level.” It’s a recognition of experience and trust — and it made the day even more special.

🌅 Morning Dive – North Side of El Quadim Bay

We started our first dive on the northern side of El Quadim Bay, the house reef of the Mövenpick Resort. The morning light was spectacular, painting the coral formations in gold and blue tones. The visibility was crystal-clear, and the soft current made for a relaxed, slow dive — ideal to rediscover the reef’s peaceful beauty.

🌇 Afternoon Dive – South Side of El Quadim Bay

After lunch, we explored the southern side of the bay, which shines in the afternoon light. The sun’s angle reveals the deeper textures of the coral wall and turns the reef into a glowing underwater landscape. It’s amazing how the same bay can offer two completely different moods depending on the time of day.

🐠 Underwater Highlights

El Quadim Bay is famous for its healthy coral reefs and diverse marine life — and today didn’t disappoint. Among the highlights we saw:

  • Curious moray eels hiding in coral crevices
  • Schools of shimmering mackerel
  • Graceful batfish hovering effortlessly
  • Bright clams and soft corals glowing in the light
  • Several blue-spotted rays resting on the sandy bottom
  • Long, elegant flute fish following our bubbles

Every dive here feels like entering a living aquarium — calm, colorful, and full of life.
