Before heading to the North Sea, we spent a day in Hamburg — Germany’s maritime heart and one of our favorite cities to explore. The port was alive with movement: giant container ships being loaded by red-blue cranes, seagulls circling above, and the hum of industry mixing with the breeze from the Elbe. Watching the HMM Rotterdam and Taipei Triumph glide into the harbor was pure spectacle — a reminder of how connected the world really is.

We enjoyed a classic Fischbrötchen by the water and wandered through the Speicherstadt, where brick walls and reflections in the canals tell stories of the city’s trading past. The modern lines of the Elbphilharmonie shone against the sky — Hamburg’s proud symbol of culture and architecture.

It was just one day, but it felt like a perfect pause between journeys — a taste of city life before the calm of the coast.
