Aerial Photography Adventure: Trains, Tracks & Waldschwaigsee from Above

Exploring patterns, symmetry and landscapes through drone photography

This aerial photography day was all about discovering patterns that only reveal themselves from the sky. With the drone, we captured three striking worlds: the geometric precision of railway yards, the looping shapes of road intersections, and the peaceful blue of Waldschwaigsee. The images show how differently our environment behaves when seen from above — structured, abstract, and surprisingly artistic.

The train yards became a playground of symmetry: endless rails, parked wagons forming colorful bands, and repeating lines that look almost like graphic design. The curvy roads and ramps created organic shapes that contrast sharply with the strict railway grids — a reminder of how infrastructure can be unintentionally artistic. Later, the calm waters of Waldschwaigsee offered pure serenity: reflections, deep lake tones, and a lone island framed by perfect evening light.

Throughout the day, we used altitude and angle to emphasize leading lines, textures, and contrast between nature and industry. Aerial photography forces us to slow down, think carefully about composition, and wait for the right moment when light and geometry align. These images celebrate that mix of patience, timing, and the surprising beauty of everyday places.
