Travelling through California and into Death Valley gave me the chance to capture a unique mix of American roadside culture, abandoned vehicles, endless highways and surreal desert scenery. The images from this trip reflect everything that makes the American Southwest so visually compelling: bold colours, iconic landscapes, vintage cars decaying under open skies, and quiet towns that feel frozen in time.
My journey started at the airport and quickly shifted into a world of neon signs, wide-open spaces and classic Americana. Rusting pickup trucks, forgotten trailers, and old Airstream caravans stood scattered across the desert—photogenic reminders of a past era. The ghost-town buildings and derelict cars seemed almost staged, yet every one of them was exactly as found.
Death Valley itself delivered dramatic sky formations, sweeping desert roads and the sense of isolation that attracts photographers from around the world. With its salt flats, long straight highways and cinematic vistas, it was the perfect playground for landscape, travel and documentary photography. I explored locations far from the tourist spots, often driving for hours without seeing another soul. Those empty roads, old motels, abandoned fuel stations and rural mailboxes became some of my favourite subjects of the entire trip.
This collection is a snapshot of classic American travel photography—roadside culture, freedom, loneliness and the beauty of remote landscapes. A visual love letter to California’s deserts, captured during one unforgettable road trip.
