Capturing character, contrast, and everyday stories in the heart of the city

This series was taken during a street photography walk through Schwabing, one of Munich’s most vibrant and eclectic neighborhoods. Known for its mix of artists, students, business professionals, cafés, and urban contrasts, Schwabing offers endless opportunities to capture authentic moments.

The images focus on the people and scenes that bring the district to life:

a street musician with an accordion, a man playing the pan flute, a sharply dressed businessman checking his phone, a homeless sleeping spot beneath a “mein Bio!” advertisement, two shop employees chatting behind a reflective storefront window, and the colorful chaos of a small workshop filled with tools and wheels.

Each photograph highlights the contrasts that define Schwabing — wealth and struggle, noise and silence, routine and individuality. Shot almost entirely in black and white, the images emphasize expression, form, and mood without distraction. Schwabing’s streets become a stage where stories unfold naturally.

This shoot captures the essence of urban life: honest, raw, and full of personality.
