Formula 1 at Hockenheim Ring

Had the pleasure to watch a Formula 1 race with my son. Great boys weekend! 🙂

The Hockenheimring is a motorsport circuit located in Hockenheim, Germany. It has been the host of many Formula One German Grand Prix races. The first race was held in 1970 and continued to be held at Hockenheim until 2008, after which it alternated with the Nürburgring until 2018. The track was originally built in 1939, but it has been extensively modified over the years, with the most recent renovation taking place in 2002. The circuit is known for its long straights and high-speed sections, as well as its tight, twisting stadium section that runs through the forested area. The Hockenheimring track is 4.574 km long, which consist of 17 turns, it’s considered a fast track that allows cars to reach high speed.

The 2019 German Grand Prix, which was held at the Hockenheimring on July 28, 2019, was won by Lewis Hamilton. He drove for Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team. Hamilton started the race from pole position, and he led every lap of the race to take the checkered flag. He was followed by his Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas, who finished in second place, and Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing, who finished in third place. It was Hamilton’s 8th victory of the season, and it helped him to further extend his lead in the championship standings. It also marked Mercedes’ record-equalling 9th win in a row, equalling the previous record set by Ferrari in the early 2000s.
